Project: Sustaining Worship, Welcome and Heritage Consultation
Client: Worcester Cathedral
Role: Videographer / Production / Editing
Overview
I recently produced a short consultation video for Worcester Cathedral to help communicate its “Sustaining Worship, Welcome and Heritage” consultation. The video supports the cathedral’s public consultation about how the historic building can continue to support worship, welcome visitors, and preserve its heritage while adapting for the future.
The aim was to create a clear, accessible piece of communication that could be used online to explain the consultation and encourage feedback from the wider community.

The Challenge
Filming in a working cathedral always means adapting to what’s happening around you. On the day of filming the building was triple booked with a school assembly taking place elsewhere in the cathedral and a piano tuner working nearby! Luckily we didn't have long to wait for both other events to finish.
Production Approach
For this project I chose a simple, reliable setup that allowed us to work quickly within the cathedral environment.
Equipment and setup included:
Two-camera setup to give flexibility in the edit
iPad-based autocue to help the presenter deliver scripted sections smoothly
Lighting to complement the natural interior atmosphere of the cathedral
The autocue was particularly helpful in keeping the messaging clear and consistent, especially for a piece explaining a detailed consultation process.

Post-Production
The edit was intentionally kept simple and clean.Because the purpose of the video was informational, the priority was clarity rather than heavy visual treatment. The two-camera setup provided enough variation to keep the piece visually engaging while maintaining a professional, straightforward style.
The final video focuses on:
Clear messaging
Natural delivery
A calm visual style that reflects the setting with calm, reflective background music.
Outcome
The video forms part of Worcester Cathedral’s public consultation materials, helping explain the project and inviting feedback from the community.
Working in historic spaces like Worcester Cathedral is always rewarding, not just because of the setting, but because the stories being told are often about how heritage buildings continue to evolve and serve modern communities.
